Event Information

Description

Sailors will be evaluated and placed in a group based on their sailing abilities. Sailors must be between the ages of 12 to 17.

Beginner Sailor:

This session is designed for the sailor’s first experience in a sailboat for the sailor new to sailing. For the sailor, this session is designed for the sailor’s first experience in a sailboat. Sailors will be introduced to wind direction and have a chance to sail double-handed, alternating between crew and skipper positions. Instruction will offer knot tying, sail trim, boat trim, and steering. Sailors will also practice capsize and recovery drills and the  sailor will learn to rig and de-rig a boat and practice land drills.

Intermediate/Advanced Sailor:

 Sailors will have the opportunity to advance their skipper and crew skills and improve their overall technique regarding responsibilities and positioning. In addition, sailors will be introduced to high-level techniques used for individual and team racing and will have the chance to practice their sailing skills and racing form. 

Cancellation and Refund Standard:

Camp registration is refundable minus a $25 processing fee before May 31, 2024. Registrations can be switched to other week pending availability with a $75 processing fee.

After June 1, 2024, and up to 2 weeks before the start of your scheduled camp, registrations are non-refundable or transferable, but a USSCMC credit will be offered and may be applied to future camps, private sailing lessons, programming, or a USSCMC membership. No refunds or credits will be issued after your scheduled week of camp begins.
